Performance Analysis - Not Just For the Elite!
Many of us have a nagging little problem that doesn’t keep us from participating in our activities but keeps us from fully enjoying them or improving at them. A tugging in the calf while you run, tightness in the knee while skiing or biking, or a chronic injury that you have learned to live with, are a few examples. Likely your body has learned to compensate to protect the affected area. A performance analysis by a certified athletic therapist can help you determine the underlying issue and resolve it. This involves a functional screen to see how your body moves and how you control your body, as well as a biomechanical analysis to determine if you have any muscle imbalances, leg length discrepancies and/or structural issues. Depending on the findings, solutions can involve a muscle strengthening and/or stretching program, muscle retraining which involves sports specific movement patterns or a recommendation for custom orthotics. A performance analysis can help active people at all levels reach their goals, whether they are to eliminate chronic injuries, improve performance or prevent injuries.
