How Do We Perform a Running Assessment in Collingwood?
Once we’ve completed your standing and functional tests, we’ll move on to treadmill analysis. If you can run pain-free for about five minutes, we’ll observe you both in shoes and barefoot to highlight differences in stride length, cadence, and foot strike.
Our advanced video technology allows us to slow down and break apart each movement for a clear picture of what’s happening. By reviewing the footage together, you’ll gain instant visual feedback that makes understanding adjustments easier.
From there, we provide clear recommendations based on your unique results—whether it’s strength work, stretching, footwear advice, or technique modifications.
What Problems Can a Running Assessment Identify?
Runners often face recurring issues that can limit progress or cause discomfort. A thorough assessment can uncover problems such as:
- Muscle imbalances leading to overuse injuries
- Poor running form causing inefficient energy use
- Footwear that doesn’t provide proper support
- Incorrect cadence or stride length
- Weaknesses contributing to shin splints, plantar fasciitis, or knee pain
By identifying these underlying factors, we can create a plan that addresses the root causes rather than just the symptoms.
What Conditions Can Benefit From a Running Assessment?
-
Chronic pain from running or sports
Ankle pain and instability
Shin splints
Knee pain and patellofemoral issues
Myofascial pain syndrome
Neuropathic pain
Complex sports injuries
General running injuries
Future injury prevention strategies
Whether you’re currently injured or simply aiming to improve your performance, a running assessment can provide the insights you need to keep moving forward.
